Example. This is Bella, hard to adopt because as soon as we busted her out of shelter it became clear that she not only had pneumonia and also was peeing blood. Upon seeing these videos her owner took a plane across the country and picked up her new Bella. Trish took her back to the West coast, took care of her pneumonia, received a veterinary diagnosis of stones, took care of the surgery, and both are very happy. Video is a powerful tool- Trish, Bella's adoptor is clearly so kind and generous and a commited parent. she understood that she didn't need to come right away and WTR would of course take care of her medical rehab- But Trish just saw her and could not wait. We only let her go on a plane because Trish has adopted through us before and we would trust her with our own dogs.
Here is u tube video of Orville. This video helped Orville capture the heart of Amy Evers who came from NJ to get him after seeing that video. Orville was considered hard to adopt due to: extreme age (i don't know how old he is but sometimes he stared into space and you could almost imagine him reliving earlier memories-- Orville and Washington crossing the Delaware, Orville and Napolean and Josephene), blindness, and a number of other medical issues (severe uti resistant to medication at the time of adoption) that were nebulous and confusing to veterinarians and know it all foster moms alike. Amy took him to a specialty hospital in NJ, insisted on whole body and whole head imaging from multiplle angles (she doesn't know what instinct led her to ask for this) which precipitated discovery that his gums had completely healed over rotten broken teeth stumps (eeewww) which led to a severe low level infection that was getting him all out of wack.. He is still aot of money and work. An eye condition just got worse and necessitated surgery.. But he is the HAPPIEST and most pampered dog in the universe, and she adores him, and her whole family fights to spend time with him. Luckily I have made friends with Amy so he still gets to see his old Foster mom sometimes too...
