Holly started her work with animals in need as a child in Pennsylvania, where she helped nuture abandoned and injured wildlife at a local sanctuary and at home with the help of her mom, a nurse. As a teenager she helped to rehabilitate abused horses, and when she moved to NYC in 1993 she continued her mission to help animals in need. She started WaggyTail Rescue (WTR) approximately 4 and a half years ago.
She is WTR's Founder, Director, President, and life force. Here she is with her two beloved rescue dogs, Taco and Starlet.

Gillian (Teddy's mom) says: ..Waggytail Rescue is the wonderful organization founded
by my good friend Holly DeRito. For the past 4 years, Holly has devoted
her life taking sad, needy dogs from the city shelter's "death row" and
finding them loving homes so they can become happy, cherished pets like
Teddy.
